Julian Wilson, Class of 2009
Two students from the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry's DDS Class of 2009, Julian Wilson and Jason Ouellette, have been named as finalists in the Dentsply/Caulk Student Research Competition, Basic Science Category, of the International Association for Dental Research /American Association for Dental Research, to be held in Miami, Florida in April.

Wilson was selected for his work on "Effects of Antifungals and Histatin 5 on Candida albicans Biofilms" and Ouellette for his work on "Enhancing Gene Delivery to Cancer Cells by Transferrin and EGF." During the 2009 IADR/AADR General Session & Exhibition in Miami, the judging committee will attend each of the seven finalists' poster presentations. First-, second-, and third-prize winners will be selected and presented with an award check after the meeting.
"Regardless of the outcome of the competition at the IADR/AADR Meeting, this is a gratifying national recognition of the research carried out by our students, our technical staff and their supervising faculty, " said Dr. Nejat Düzgünes, chair of the dental school's microbiology department. "This could not have been achieved without the long-standing support of student research by the Dugoni School."
