Anatomy Department Chair

Dr. Dorothy Burk, Chair

Dr. Dorothy Burk began her career at the dental school in 1979. In addition to her role as chair of the Department of Anatomical Sciences, she is the co-director of the human anatomy courses and director of the head and neck anatomy course for the dental hygiene program.

Burk received her bachelor's degree from the University of New Hampshire and her Ph.D. in anatomy from the University of Michigan. She conducted postdoctoral research in craniofacial development at the University of Virginia. Burk earned her master's degree in educational and counseling psychology from University of the Pacific in 1994 and is currently working on a doctorate in professional education and administration.

Burk is an honorary member of Tau Kappa Omega dental honor society. She serves as chair of the State of California's Proposition 65 Developmental and Reproductive Toxicant Identification Committee and her current research interests include student support services and anatomy education.
