Outreach Abroad

In addition to offering dental services for underserved patients in the Bay Area and Central Valley, the Dugoni School also participates in outreach programs outside the United States.

As part of our graduate orthodontic curriculum, our residents and faculty members partner with the non-profit humanitarian organization Rotaplast International to treat children who suffer from cleft lip and palate throughout the globe. During these mission trips, orthodontic residents and faculty provide oral health care services, including preventive care and oral and maxillofacial surgery, to patients in developing countries, such as El Salvador, India and Vietnam. For more information about our orthodontic outreach efforts abroad, contact Dr. Marie Tolarova, professor and director of the dental school's Craniofacial and Cleft Prevention Program, at 415.749.3397.Dentist holding little girl

Our students and faculty also participate in other outreach activities abroad, including mission trips to remote or underserved areas in countries such as Peru and the Philippines during the school's spring break. These are nonschool-sponsored events, organized each year by various student or faculty volunteers.
